Wedding Thank You

I made these minis for my secret santa (she is getting married in June) at Christmas time. I have used this cut before for wedding shower cards. I think that I will make more to give as wedding and shower gifts, especially since so many weddings happen between now and the fall!

Cuts & Materials:

* Card Base - 3.5" x 7"
* Plain Mat - 3.25" x 3.25"
* Patter Mat - 3" x 3"
* Dress - Forever Young - 5.25" (I forgot to write it down, but I think this is right)
* Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder
* Hero Arts - Everyday Sayings
* Brown Ink
* Paper by The Paper Studio
I also made some mini envelopes with my Art Philosophy cartridge (one of my new favorites). The one downfall of these mini cards is that they can not be mailed in their mini envelopes.  You can however mail one in a normal A2 sized envelop with a piece of cardstock to keep it from sliding around in the envelope. *~*Thanks for stopping by*~*

Fabulous Birthday Cards!

When I first got my Forever Young cartridge I knew I had to use the sunglasses, but I didn't have anyone/anything to use them for.  Lucky for me two of my most fabulous friends have birthdays this time of year and the cut was perfect for them.  So after I glittered my entire house green I came up with these:

 

Here's what I did: The card base was cut at 5.5" x 8.5" and scored at 4.25".  The purple mat is 4" x 5.25" and the patterned paper is 3.75" x 5".  I used my gypsy to figure out the size for the glasses and words (from the cartridge I won from Sherrie Scraps with Passion).  I also hid the bow cut that came with the saying and added the dots with a white gel pen. Of course I had to add some sparkle and I decided on lime green glitter from Oriental Trading.  I also added Glossy Accents to the lens to make them look real.  Here is a tip I have learned about glittering and glossy accents:  Glue your pieces together. Use the glossy accents first and allow it plenty of time to dry. Then add your glitter.  This way you don't end up with glitter in your glossy accents (which is what happen when I did it the other way around on my High Heels Thank You Card)! The purple ribbon is from Hobby Lobby. On the inside I cut I piece of pattern paper ( I think 1.75") and same pink cardstock (2" I think) to make the gift card holder. I glued them together. Then added adhesive to the bottom and sides to make a pocket that the gift card could slide inside.  All of my papers and the the "Happy Birthday" are from The Paper Studio.

Get Well

I made this card for a very dear friend of mine who just found out she has cancer.  She is faced with months of recovery from surgery and chemo. Her prognosis is great and I have no doubt she will recover from this stronger than she's ever been!  In addition, she has a wonderful support system of friends and family around her.

When I initially picked out this paper I thought it was perfect for this card.  I had planned to use just a small portion of it, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it and couldn't eliminate any of the uplifting phases, nor did I feel I could cover them up.  So this is what I came up with.

This card is standard A2 size.  I did something different with the mat (5.375" x 4.125") and the designer paper (5.25" x 4") this time.  I normally would have just centered them on the card base, but this time I lined them up with the left edge of the card.  Usually this would bother me (the asymmetrical look to it), but I actually really like it here.  I cut out parts of the designer paper (which is by The Paper Studio) to emphasize them more.  I added pop-dots to the speech bubble with "You are Beautiful" and featured "Great Friend" in the middle of the flower. The silver ribbon came from my scraps. And for the sparkle - the gems are a variety of The Paper Studio and Michaels dollar section.

The Cuts:

* Daisy - Forever Young cut at 2.5" - I didn't use the base cut, I just cut the layer out twice.  I also scored the middle of the petals to give them some dimension and love how they turned out! (of course the pictures aren't spectacular, so feel free to click on them to get a better look!)

Another Wedding Card, Blog Award and Hop News

I have another wedding card today!  This one was for the same wedding as the last.  The colors of the wedding were black and white.  I felt this one needed an extra pop of color so I added a bit of red too!

Close Up Of The Sparkle!

The cardstock colors are more true to the close up picture.  I'm still working on getting good pictures of my cards.  I was super excited to use a cartridge I had never used before, Joys of the Season.  The glitter is a combination or fabric paint (doves), Stickles (love) and Studio G (heart). The designer paper is from a dollar pack I purchased at Target.

TPV Challenge - Guest Designer!

I'm so honored to be a guest designer for The Paper Variety challenge reveal today!  My idea (flowers) was randomly chosen for their next challenge.  This not only won me a wonderful gift certificate, but it also gave me the opportunity to create a project, to be displayed along with their other designers, for their new challenge.  If you have not been to The Paper Variety you must check them out.  They are amazing! Of course I added some sparkle to it! I used icicle Stickles on the flowers and the border around the "Happy Easter" sentiment (which is from a set of stamps that came in a big plastic barrel, but I don't remember who they are made by).   It is hard to tell, but the card background is brown.  I also embossed the flowers with my Cuttlebug, to give them some dimension. The pattern paper is from the dollar spot at Target (woo hoo!).  The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, and the flowers are cut from Forever Young.

April Fool's Day Blog Hop!

Welcome to the It's A Joy 2 Scrap's - April Fool's Day Blog Hop!  I hope everyone is having a fabulous Friday!  If you came here from  Patty at The Crafty Kitten, you are in the right place. This is my first hop and I am so excited to be a part of it!  For this hop, we were asked to create a project that “tricks the eye.” I made a birthday card.  Here's what I did:

I started out by just making the gift box on the Forever Young Cartridge.  This has become one of my favorite cartridges lately.  I added some holographic paper because I feel like it always tricks your eye when it moves.  Here's how it looks:

 Then I decided it wasn't eye tricking enough, so I made it do this:

To make the gift box open: First, I cut the shadow (it's purple, I'm not sure you can tell in the picture) of the box out twice (at 3.5") and glued them together just around the edges.  I added layers to make it pretty.  Then, I cut the assembled box apart where the lid and the box met.  Since I only glued the boxes around the edges, it was open on the inside.  So, I attached some paper to the lid so that it could slide in and out of the box.  Since it is a birthday card, I decided to stamp a happy birthday sentiment on the inside of the box as a surprise for the person who receives the card!

Bridal Shower Card

First, I want to thank all of those who are new followers and give a big THANKS to Momo for her link up!  I appreciate everyone who visits me :)  It has been such a busy week and I didn't get as much done as I wanted or needed too.  I did, however, make a wonderful card for a bridal shower I attended this morning.  I used the Forever Young cartridge again.  I think it turned out super cute, but I'd love to hear your feedback!

The designer paper did not have glitter on it originally.  I used glitter glue and a toothpick, to give it some sparkle! I'm not sure how well it shows up in the picture.  I also used a piece of vellum (this was my first time) on top of the dress.  I found that you have to be super careful when embossing vellum because it cracks very easily.  I ended up only using my A and B (just one) Cuttlebug plates along with a little bit of junk mail to emboss it.  If anyone has any tips on this, I could definitely use some :)  This dress didn't have a layer feature I liked, so I just cut the dress base twice at different sizes.

Thank You Card!

Yea for Friday!  This is the last day of Spring Break for me and while it has been productive (not as far as card making goes though), I do miss my kiddos and am excited to get back to school. I made this card for a spectacular friend of mine, to thank her for being so wonderful!  I used the Forever Young cartridge this time.  I really like this cartridge because it has so many cute girly cuts on it. This is was the perfect occasion for my first project with it.

 I couldn't decide which picture to post because I liked them both so much.  I decided to post them both! I glittered the shoes with black glitter after I cut them out.  I also added glossy accents to the insides and heels.
