First Communion Card

I'm so excited to post this card tonight!  This card was for my niece who had her first communion last Sunday.  Of course, when I started the thinking about making a first communion card I thought of putting a cross on it.  Seems pretty simple right? Except I don't have a cross cut on any of my cartridges (maybe a reason to get a new one?) and haven't had the time to explore any kind of cutting from my computer.  So, I had to come up with another plan.  Here's what I made:

I think it turned out really cute.  As soon as I saw this little girl on the Simply Charmed cartridge I knew she was perfect!  I didn't really care for the flowers that were with this cut, so I used some paper ones from Oriental Trading instead.  I also decided not to cut her face.  Since I don't have a Gypsy (yet) I cut layer 1 instead of layer 2.  I used googly eyes and drew on her smile.  Not too much sparkle here, just some pearls by the Paper Studio. The congratulations came from Hero Arts - Everyday Sayings.  I also used a Fiskars border punch (apron lace) at the top of the mat.  I love to use pop dots on the main feature of the card.  It not only makes the cut stand out from the rest of the card, but it also allows for the person receiving the card to easily pull it off and put it in a scrapbook to remember their special occasion.
